How FavourBee works

Join through a neighbour who vouches you in. Post a need or an offer — sorted by what's walkable. If asking feels hard, post discreetly: your name stays hidden from the Hive and only the neighbour who helps connects with you — no ID, no proving you're in need, no charity counter, so asking for help never costs you your dignity. Help, then say thanks with a quick rating, which builds the helper's standing. Give now, covered later: standing is the goodwill you've earned, your safety net for when life turns. You can belong to several Hives at once — your street, your kids' school group, your church, an org you volunteer with — or start your own, and switch between them in a tap; each keeps its own neighbours and standing.

How standing is counted

Only the person you helped rates the favour, once. Standing comes from how much it helped (helped / really helped / lifesaver) and how long it took — roughly 1 to 9 points a favour, with diminishing returns on time. A favour's type never changes the score: a ride and an hour of eldercare count the same, so nothing is priced like money.

Why it can't be gamed

Standing is zero-sum: every point a helper earns, the neighbour they helped spends — so it can't be minted from nothing. It only counts for a real, completed favour, rated once by the person actually helped. Two friends rating each other nets to zero between them, and a coordinator's integrity check flags lopsided rating pairs.

It's not money — and that's the point

Standing can't be bought, sold, gifted, or cashed out. Time-banking apps that turned hours into a spendable currency mostly collapsed as people hoarded and gamed the credits. FavourBee keeps standing as a reputation and safety-net signal, not a wallet: no fees, no barter-tax headaches, nothing to game.

What it does for a community

The design means the generous are recognized so they don't burn out, everyday neighbours who give and take stay balanced, people in a hard stretch are always carried and never cut off, and pure takers slowly run a deficit and can't drain the well. Any higher-trust help is only available in a Verified Hive, which can require extra vouches and a member-obtained Vulnerable Sector Check.
